💡 Before you buy any used car: check the lights. All of them.
It sounds so obvious that most buyers skip it entirely. And that's exactly why sellers count on you not doing it.
A thorough car light check takes less than 2 minutes and can reveal:
🔴 Burned-out bulbs the seller "forgot" to mention
🔴 Non-functioning brake or reverse lights (major safety and legal issues)
🔴 Mismatched bulb colours or brightness suggesting recent hasty replacement
🔴 Cracked or moisture-filled housings that need expensive replacement
🔴 Signs of wiring problems that hint at bigger electrical issues underneath
At Car Inspected, this is one of the first checks we perform on every single vehicle; because it takes seconds and tells us so much.
In our latest DIY tip, we walk you through exactly how to do it yourself. Bookmark this one for your next test drive. 🔍

🏆 One of those extraordinary days at Car Inspected.
A 1930s Auburn Speedster, a car so beautifully designed it belongs in a museum, and often does.
In Montreal. In front of us. ✨
Days like this remind us why we love what we do. Whether we're inspecting a modern family SUV or standing in front of automotive history, every car has a story worth telling; and worth protecting.
To the owners who preserve, restore, and celebrate these incredible machines... thank you!!. You're keeping something extraordinary alive. 🖤

🔧 BMW owners — this one's for you. Bilstein vs. Sachs OEM shocks: which should you actually choose?
If you own a BMW long enough, you'll face this decision. And every BMW forum on the internet will give you a different answer.
Here's the honest breakdown from someone who actually installs these:
⚙️ Sachs OEM : the factory-supplied shocks. Refined, balanced ride. Closest to how BMW engineered the car to feel from new. Ideal if you value comfort and factory-original character.
⚙️ Bilstein : sportier, firmer, more precise feedback. Preferred by drivers who want tighter handling and improved cornering. Trade-off is a slightly stiffer ride on rougher roads.
Neither is "better." They serve different priorities.
At Car Inspected, we see the results of both; and the results of poorly chosen or improperly installed alternatives. The best shock is the one that matches how you actually drive your car.

🎨 What sellers hope you don't notice; and what our inspectors always catch.
A fresh coat of paint and a nicely refinished panel can transform a car's appearance. It can also transform its selling price. What it doesn't do is transform its history; and if that history includes a serious accident, panel work is often how sellers try to keep that secret.
In our latest short, we walk through a real GMC Terrain inspection where paint and body repair work told a very different story than the seller's listing. Here's what we look for:
🔍 Panel gap inconsistencies
🔍 Paint texture and finish differences
🔍 Overspray in areas that shouldn't have it
🔍 Colour matching under different lighting conditions
🔍 Filler evidence in body panels
These aren't things most buyers can spot on their own. and that's exactly the point. Sellers count on that knowledge gap.
At Car Inspected, closing that gap is what we do; on every single vehicle we inspect. 🇨🇦

🔋⚡ Buying a used electric car? "Low mileage" is not the reassurance most buyers think it is.
The used EV market in Canada is exploding; driven by federal and provincial incentives, environmental awareness, and the sheer number of EVs now coming off lease. But the inspection knowledge most buyers rely on is still built around gas-powered vehicles.
An EV can have low kilometres but:
🔴 Significant battery degradation from how it was charged
🔴 Thermal management issues that don't show up in a test drive
🔴 Software and electronics faults specific to the make and model
🔴 Charging system components nearing end of life
In our latest short, we walk through a thorough inspection of a low-mileage EV; showing the depth of assessment that this new category of vehicle actually requires.
At Car Inspected, our approach has evolved with the market. Whether it's a classic combustion vehicle or a modern electric car, our inspection standards are built to deliver the same level of confidence to every buyer. 🔍
